The kernel of inspiration for the serial poem THE FAILURE EXPERIMENT came from my partner Ricki smashing together “love in the time of cholera” and “the work of art in the age of mechanical reproduction,” into “love in the age of mechanical reproduction.” This painting took it just a step or two further: the goddess of love, mechanically reproduced, and “fixed” with a prosthetic arm, rendered in the style of the artist best known for reproducible art. I mean, Warhol’s studio was even called The Factory. It’s perfect.
